Dr. Peroxide

Guess who’s back? Back again? Doc is back. Tell a blonde friend!

Are ya’ll ready for another episode of Ask Dr. Peroxide? Excellent, cause today’s question is one that I get a lot from my newly blonde girlfriends.

So without further adieu, lets move on to this week’s question:

Question:

Dear Doctor Peroxide,

I just got my hair done, but I’ve heard that if you have bleached blonde hair that you can’t go in the swimming pool. They say that the chlorine in the pool will make it turn green. I thought no one better than you would be able to confirm or deny this. Thanks.

-Jillian

Answer:

Hi Jillian,

What’s the matter, afraid of a little swimming pool? What’s the worst thing that could happen? So you might go swimming and come up as a booger-head, it’s not the end of the world. Imagine you went swimming and came out a darkhead?! Now that would truly be a tragedy.

Before I answer your question, I want to tell you a little story. I was trying for the longest time to find out a real test to determine of a blonde was real or not. Since most girls are shaved down there nowadays, the good ole “Do the curtains match the carpet” technique doesn’t work anymore. So, I came up with this new method of “accidentally” pushing her into the swimming pool, and if she came up green, you would know she’s a not a real blonde.

After hundreds of swimming pool pushings and angry wet blondes, my results were coming up inconclusive. So I did a little research and found that it was NOT chlorine that makes your hair go green, it’s other chemicals in the pool such as copper. In fact, both natural and bleached blondes can fall victim to the swimming pool bogger-head effect. Luckily, if most pools are properly maintained they should not contain this evil copper chemical.

So don’t you worry Jillian. Go ahead and slap on that hot bikini and get a little wet for me. If you’re worried about any greenness, just rinse right away. Better yet - just re-apply MORE peroxide. Pretty soon you’ll be a SUPER BLONDE: ready to leap tall boys in a single bound!

‘Till next time,
Doc.
