Blonde Idol Update: Questions and Answers
Published by Colin July 30th, 2007 in Blonde IdolHey everyone - the response for Blonde Idol has been overwhelming. Lots of hot blondes out there are interested in participating, so I’m sure all 32 spots will be filled. Quite a few questions have been asked too, so hopefully this post can answer some of those.
Okay, so how does it work?
All participating blondes will get a blondelicious profile. In the profile includes some basic information and 5 of your favorite pictures. When the tournament begins, your profile will be randomly paired up with another blonde’s profile. Each pairing will be on the site for approximately a week with a web poll to allow you to vote on your favorite. The judges will also have their input, but ultimately it will be up to the “fans” to decide who moves on to the next round.
**UPDATE: The fans will have control of of the voting UNTIL the final 4, after which the judges input will have the final say.
When does it start?
Most likely the first or second week in September.
Who is eligible to participate?
Well any hot blondes of course!
Of course, it actually has to be you that wants to participate (i.e. you can’t submit a profile on someone else’s behalf). Also, if there’s any doubt that the pics aren’t of you, I will seek proof. The minimum age to participate is 18.
What counts as being a blonde?
Don’t laugh - this is actually a valid question. All natural blondes and bottle blondes are allowed to enter. Say if you’re a darkhead but have many blonde highlights you can enter as long as the blonde is on top the evil darkness and covers more than 50% of your head. If you’re a tweener blonde (i.e. between blonde and brunette ala Jennifer Aniston), you’ll have to pass the visual inspection. In general, if it looks blonde and sounds like a blonde - it’s a blonde!
What kind of pictures can I use?
It can be any non-nude picture with you clearly in it. You can make it as sexy as you want, but be wary of excessive display of “TnA.” Just a reminder that both guys and girls will be voting on your profile.
My preference would be for non-modeling photos since this is a tournament for the everyday blonde, and also to make it fair for all participants. To me, the non-modeling photos are hotter because they are more real. No high res photos with fake soft lighting or airbrushing. Besides, we see enough of those in maxim and everywhere else. With that being said though, you still want to show your best, so I think I will allow one of the photos to be a modeling-type photo if you so desire.
Who are the judges?
There will be a totally of three judges. Two of the three judges are already confirmed. Later this week all three judges will be revealed with a blurb on each one.
How will the match-ups be decided?
Using the advanced full-proof scientific method called “Putting names in a hat and drawing them out at random.”
So what does the Blonde Idol winner get?
**UPDATE - Aug. 16
- Grand Prize winner and a friend get to fly out to Orlando, FL! (North America contestants only)
- Automatically get a spot in the Rebel Girl calender as the Blonde Rebel Model! You will have professional photos taken that you can use for your portfolio.
- Free Rebel Girl gear
- Also, the Blonde Idol winner gets an all inclusive trip to…………. MY BEDROOM!!
- You will also get to be featured on the site with a 1 on 1 interview.
- Your very own custom made graphic banner with your picture.
- Of course, the notoriety of being the hottest blonde doesn’t hurt either
- Second place winner gets $75 worth of rebel girl gear.
Okay, I hope that covers most of the questions. Good luck to all contestants and play nice. I don’t want any fighting between blondes now… save those fights for the darkheads.
