Does Blonde Hair = Sex?
Published January 18th, 2008 in DebatesI witnessed an event the other day that made me wonder if men associate blonde hair with sex. It’s pretty clear that many of the porn movies have blondes in starring roles so that might be a contributing factor.
Anyways, the incident happened when I was at an NHL hockey game. During breaks in the action, the camera goes around the stadium and puts fans on the huge jumbotron. So, the camera pans on a pretty women dressed very nicely in business attire, and with extremely blonde locks. As soon as she is shown on the screen, the entire arena erupts in cheers (this coincidentally, is exactly how Pamela Anderson was discovered).
So why was that? It’s not as if the woman was dressed revealingly or slutty at all. If the woman had brown hair would the same reaction be made? Probably not. Is it just because a mostly male audience sees a woman with blonde hair and instantly thinks she’s wild and kinky sex and wants to cheer for that?
It’s clear the cameraman knew what he was doing in this case. He either a) had an easier time finding a blonde because the hair color stands out in the crowd, or b) knew that putting a blonde on camera would result in that type of reaction so he consciously sought out one.
So from a male perspective, does a woman having blonde hair instantly register her as a sex goddess? There was a few scientific articles on why men prefer blondes mainly because of the association with youth and fertility. There’s probably a bunch of theories as to why blondes are always featured in porn movies but I’m too lazy to look it up. I do have my own theory though.
It’s human nature that men are attracted to women (and visa versa), mostly because they are opposite from themselves. Men appreciate characteristics that inherent to women, such as being delicate, soft, smooth, petite etc.
So why blonde? Well think about, has there ever been a guy who looked good as a platinum blonde? Not really. Ask most girls and they will tell you they prefer dark hair on a man (thus the tall, DARK and handsome cliche). And lets face it, some colors are just more “feminine” then others - most pastel colors such as pink and light YELLOW come to mind. If that’s the case, you could make the arguement that blonde hair is a more feminine characteristic.
Since pornography is essential a visual fantasy for men, it makes sense that the women in them look hyper-feminine with hyper-feminine characteristics - i.e. giant boobs, skinny, super high heels and… super BLONDE! So, has the effects of pornography lead men to associate blonde with sex or could there be another theory? Have your say in the comments below.

I think its because blondes just look more appealing. We are sexy… and the blonde hair just tops it off because its a beautiful colour. Thats the only thing I can think of… as for porno’s?… not too too sure about that one. I wonder sometimes myself why blondes are more frequently starring in them than brunettes. Redheads are kind of equal though… Ive see alot of them. Anyways, thats my two cents for now! lol
xo
BOTTOM LINE — BLONDES ARE BETTER! thats why…
guys go for blondes for some reason my friend is a brunette and shes so much prettier but she doesnt really get guys looking at her or anything where i do!! the best is blonde with blue eyes… blondes just do it best thats why and everyone knows it… BIG UP THE BLONDES XXX
I have to agree with Amber. Blonde hair is flattering on just about any woman, but brunette? Not so much.
In australia blonde haired girls are the stereotypical image of the Aussie beach babe. Not brunette (maybe in brazil). so blondes male or female have the winning formula in a much loved tourist destination and multicultural society. Obviously the porn industry and holywood have also given us these strong ideals. I thank paris and jenna jamison, pamela for allowing us blondes to have a higher law of averages when chosing a suitable candidate lol. Anyway where visual creatures, best blondes always beat best brunettes. The allure is better, fewer and further between and we love sex… or is that just me?
i wouldn’t know i have blonde, brown and red in my hair although i would say it was mostly blonde i don’t think it makes any difference although i would say bleached blonde is awful or platinum it’s a bit cheap which is why i think men would say whistle at a girl with that colour hair than a brunette they look easy and the colour stands out
yeh i agree with what ever the blonde says.. lol yes we do get looked at totally different compared to the brunettes and red heads we get alot more of everything too. go blondies…xxx
I am a natural dark blonde/light brown haired girl. and i gotta say, NOW my hair is lighter blonde. Guys love it.
I have been dying my hair brown since i was little, and those colors did nothing.
When i finally went back to natural dark blonde, a few heads turned,
but then when i went even lighter, all the guys started going after me. they just love it.
not always associated with being cheap, but they just say that the color seems to look clean, healthy and that it has some kinda illuminating shine about it that they find gorgeous.
I have it Light ash blonde now, but it looks dark to me, i dont know..
so im going platinum lol.
wayyyy blonde.
and when i told my guy friends they were like “DAMN”
they think its hot
so ya, idk why it is, but they think its pretty as hell,
not just for sexual reasons, tho im sure thats a contributing factor.
In my own opinion, both blondes and brunettes can be beautiful in different ways, but blonde looks really feminin. i love it.
